Up Close on Hope – 2

April 7, 2013 by A. Cemal Ekin

Ruth Whitney

The second performance of UCoH series was this weekend, Friday and Saturday. I visited the dress rehearsal again to photograph the alternate cast perform the same pieces. Despite my little knowledge of ballet, different interpretations were evident in the pieces and highly enjoyable. You have one more weekend opportunity to catch the ten little pieces, you will very likely enjoy it. Go to the FBP site for more information on UCoH.

This time I am posting all the images in one gallery. If you like program information, please refer to my previous post. Although the order of presentation is different you will connect the pieces from the costumes and movements.

To my friends at Festival Ballet, if you like to have any of these photographs for your Web site and similar use let me know which ones by their number and I will make them available to you. I kindly ask that you credit the source and use the images the way they are without further editing or cropping.

Here is the Festival Ballet Providence company performing at Up Close on Hope on Friday April 5, 2013:

Cemal – great photos! Not easy to accomplish! Tough lighting conditions, continuous motion, determining the timing (superb by the way!) – you did an incredible job composing and capturing all of the poses and moves along the way. I absolutely LOVE some of those motion-time-lapse shots. The whole shoot-tells a great story. The other aspect that I always note, every time I look at your Orchis/ballet photos…the level of physical conditioning these athletes must continually strive for. It is amazing.

Thanks Sal. Their physical condition is probably on par with Olympic athletes.

In a backyard in Erie, Pa., an unusual cardinal has appeared, displaying both male and female traits. Scientists say it may be a so-called gynandromorph.
