If you were thinking I disappeared from the scene, you are halfway right. This October 2022 update will fill you in. After the Orchis exhibit opening reception, things went a little awry. But all is well and getting even better.
I had a planned surgical procedure the day after the opening reception. A minor complication kept me in the hospital a day longer than expected. As they were processing my discharge papers, Jan fell 5-6 steps as she was coming downstairs and ended up breaking her wrist and rupturing a muscle attached to her elbow. After a successful surgery, she has recovered quite a bit, but not being able to use the dominant arm and hand limits what she can do.
Elif and Mina Visit
In the meantime, Elif and Mina came from Salt Lake City for one week to visit us. It was great to see them. Mina has grown so much, she is almost as tall as I am (not that I am very tall, but …) One day I took them to see the Orchis exhibit on its last day. On another day, we drove down to Newport, sat outside a coffee house, and had coffee.
Before they returned, Elif took Mina to Boston by train. They seemed to have enjoyed the short trip, it was very good to see them after three years. Exactly one week after they arrived, we took them to the airport to return to Salt Lake City. The October 2022 update includes a family getting together after three years.
This and That
I used to get serious pain in my leg even with a very short walk. The surgical procedure I mentioned earlier eliminated the pain and the weather also improved to suit my tastes. While Jan was resting or spending time with the girls, I took short walks in the neighborhood. And, when she had a haircut in Pawtuxet, I took my camera with me.
A New Camera
Oh, I forgot to mention that since the Canon 5D Mark IV and its lenses were getting too heavy for me, and Jan was complaining about the same with her Mark III, I got a Canon EOS R7 for each of us. Much lighter and a good deal smaller!
A Short Stop in Pawtuxet
The trees in Pawtuxet dropped their small intense yellow leaves. They looked like gold mosaics on the ground, especially against the dark pavement. I enjoyed photographing them and then turned my attention to the Pawtuxet river and the cove. Here are some photographs from our days so far.
Tomorrow is Halloween, and October 2022 ends tomorrow evening. So, this post will be out now, but there will be another post coming soon with photographs from an outing with Dennis and Jim. Stay tuned.
