Learning To See with Art Wolfe

March 23, 2015 by A. Cemal Ekin
Art Wolfe - The Art of the Image

Listen to Art Wolfe

Speaking of training your eye to see more and to see better, listen to Art Wolfe, and find out how he finds the frames that he photographs. Having a background in art history certainly gives him a leg up, but with keen awareness, a better visual vocabulary, and a willingness to experiment at the risk of failing may reveal wonderful photographs before your eyes. And, all that may be without traveling thousands of miles at the expense of that many dollars and hours, to photograph a scene that was photographed thousands of times.

Art Wolfe admits, and in fact, appears to be proud of, not knowing much about the cameras and related technology. He gets his inspiration from painting and painters but does not aspire to be a painter. To see more of his work, visit his Web site, especially the Human Canvas project.

Keep looking, looking with deep awareness will lead to better seeing. Here is Art Wolfe.

Dehşet bir sunum. Harika. Harcadığım zaman videonun zamanından fazla oldu çünki zaman zaman geri almak durumundaydım. Neyse ki vakit ayırabildim:
    – Adam kesinlikle konuşmayı seviyor. Eşimin deyimiyle “makineli tüfek gibi”. O yan masada Microsoft Mahjong oynarken dinlemiş olmalı :)
    – Görseller önden kayıp gidiyor; konuştuktan sonra tekrar görmek imkansız. Bu beni rahatsız etti. Sunum bu yönden eksikli. Bu ciddi bir problem.
    – Resimle, empresyonizmle başladı, geniş açı ile devam etti. Enfes görseller ve faideli laflarla bitti.
    – Hepsi çok güzel bence. Ama daha odaklanmış bir konuşma bekliyordum.
    – Adama hayran olduğumu söylememe gerek yok herhalde.

    Paylaşım için teşekkürler Cemal!

    Antalya’dan sevgiler.

Soguk Rhode Island’dan selam Haluk. Art Wolfe genellikle iyi bir fotografci. Genellikle diyorum cunku bazi durumlarda ucuz goruntuye takilabiliyor program geregi, belki de hepimizin yaptigi bir sey. Cok parcali bir dizisi var “Travels to the Edge With Art Wolfe” adli. Gorulebilen fotograflar bakmaya deger. Adresleri yazinin icine ekledim.
