Yesterday we went to the nursing home where Jan’s father John is staying to celebrate his 94th birthday. Our neighbors Edda, Cathy, and Marianne, as well as Jan’s cousin David and his wife Barbara, joined us for cake, ice cream, and some ginger ale. The community members who happened to be in the common living area also joined the fun and enjoyed some dessert with us.
John looked quite good despite his frail physical condition and enjoyed the visitors who came to wish him a happy birthday. You will see a short-haired women sitting next to John, her name is Pat and she used to live in the house behind John and Ruth’s house on Rose Garden Street. She chatted with Cathy, who went to the same church, about people they both knew. David had brought some World War II related magazines for John to reminisce, we will get the skinny on that in a few days.
Here are some photographs from the birthday celebration, you will agree that John looks good. He always took good pictures anyway, he could have been a model!
