Irving Penn

Irving Penn Revisited

May 10, 2017 by A. Cemal Ekin
Irving Penn

Yesterday, I received an e-mail from someone who found my post on Irving Penn. In the message, she mentioned that they created a nice visual, Irving Penn remembered, summarizing his career and the development of his style and that I could post the visual if I wanted to. That was a kind offer from an art and design site and I asked to see the visual. Interesting as it was, the single visual would have been difficult to present here, so I am sharing with permission a few clippings from their post. It is worth a visit to read the full post, you can even download the full infographic if you like.

The post on Invaluable blog divides Penn’s career into three large chunks: Portraiture, Fashion, and Extracurricular. Each segment is presented with an opening summary followed by annotated samples in that genre. In the end, you will find a link to download the full infographic and source references. Here are the major image chunks, but you should visit Irving Penn: The Creation of an Iconic Photographer and read the brief introductions to these sections. Thank you, Taylor!
