How To Get Ready for Orchis

February 13, 2013 by A. Cemal Ekin
How they get ready at Orchis Rehearsal

How do they look so graceful on stage when they dance? It looks so easily done, but nothing can be farther from the truth.

How to Get Ready for Stage

After watching the rehearsals for Agon & Orchis, it is impossible not to renew your respect for their artistic and physical abilities. In the beginning, it does not look as graceful. But I could see the moves getting smoother, easier, more fluid with every iteration of tries.

The amount of punishment these dancers take while perfecting their moves for us to enjoy is nothing short of heroic in my book. For them, though, it means serious business as usual. They grin, they joke, they have fun during the rehearsals, and then they take a break. The camaraderie and enjoying what they do, and each other’s company becomes quite apparent after you watch over and over these dedicated artists in motion.

Here are some scenes from the more recent rehearsals. Also, view articles about the live performance of Agon & Orchis.

It is amazing to see the physical condition these dancers are in. You can see the muscle tone and definition in their physiques. I’m sure it takes a long time to achieve that level of fitness (and stamina). And then on top of all of that, they have to work so hard at being able to achieve those fluid and acrobatic movements to keep those performances so graceful. Truly beautiful.

When you see them in the performance they will move with so much ease as if they have been moving that way for a long time.
