About a couple of months ago I bought the Kindle version of Gregory Heisler’s book “50 Portraits: Stories and Techniques from a Photographer’s Photographer“. It is a well-written book with stories about 50 of the notable portraits the master photographer has shot, it is well worth getting a copy. It does not deal with “tips and tricks” of the shoot, but the thought that went into each and how he and his team prepared for each. But, get the print copy, Kindle or digital presentation does not do justice to his work.
Yesterday, I found out that Gregory Heisler and Ilford collaborated to produce a two-hour video that would supplement the book. He is an excellent speaker, with an ability to explain complex setups in simple terms, and the video will not disappoint. That said, it is two hours long and may require several viewing sessions to complete.
