We have been expecting Elif and Mina on July 4 around 2:30 PM. And that evening around 11 PM our relatives from North Carolina were expected to arrive. Well, partly the weather and partly due to the Trump’s July 4 show, Elif and Mina arrived around 7:30 PM and the crew from North Carolina did not even make it that evening and arrived the following day.
It was good to see everyone despite the travel problems and serious delays. We did some things altogether and others with my staying home due to the heat and extensive walking being part of the outing. All said it was fun, including a musical we saw at The Theater By The Sea in Westerly. The building was old but well-maintained, the cast was close enough to the movie version and we all enjoyed the show. The next evening, we enjoyed a nice dinner at Efendi’s restaurant, even a surprise birthday cheesecake! The North Carolina crew is back home, the girls will be here until Monday. Below are some photographs that I gathered from everyone to share with our family and friends.

When private family sharings enjoy us, that is something to cheer about.

Nice personal pix, but should not be on pro blog / website.
Don’t dilute your work with personal stuff. When a curator Googles your name, personal stuff should not be mixed in.
Of course, I don’t follow my own rules anymore. I’ve got my work into tons of public collections worldwide, so am not too concerned with dilution any longer. But still, I try not to mix in personal stuff.
I’ve also diversified my work into all sort of areas beyond candid social documentary photography…hundreds of areas. So it is pretty much impossible for me now to be associated with only one thing any longer.
If you want to read my previous discussion of this topic, Google:
“Don’t make the mistake that many photographers do by diluting a portfolio with lots of garbage and personal photos.”
(It is nsfw)
You may not know this, but if you use your name and comment on blogs like this, sometimes you photos show up on my Google searches and vice versa. My article gives illustrations of how things get mixed up online.
Now, there are no photo police, we can all do as we like. But I wish someone had told me about dilution when I was a young guy.
Best Regards
Dan

Dan, I put this kind of posts under the Family category and normally do not show up if you look at other categories. Your point is well-taken, I will read your writing on this matter. I have quite a few more family photographs from our previous gatherings. This is a way to share the family gatherings with my friends and family as well.
