Yesterday we went to Efendi’s restaurant for dinner. He opened a new place a couple of years after closing the one he operated for quite some time. This one is on Atwells Avenue in Cranston and is a smaller place than the previous one. The flair of the place is still the same.
We decided to share a calamari and Caprese salad with tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. Mina liked both starters, especially the stack of tomato slices with mozzarella cheese but had a good number of calamari rings as well. For the main course, we ordered two chicken shish kabob with two bamboo sticks holding six pieces of chicken. In the end, we could not finish them all and brought one full order back home for tonight’s dinner. At the dinner table, I taught Mina how to make a stem glass hum by slightly wetting the fingertip and slowly rubbing on the rim of the glass. She enjoyed the new trick, I needed to remind her the others in the restaurant might not like the noise!
After dinner, Mina wanted to have ice cream at Newport Creamery and she ordered: “make your own sundae” with black raspberry ice cream, chocolate jimmies, strawberries, and gummy worms, a kind of rubbery candy. Afterward, she declared that gummy worms were gross! I don’t think she will order gummy worms again.
After we came home, I put on a video from Netflix, Wings of Life. It was about all the birds, insects, bats, and butterflies and how they help pollinate the plants and benefit from the work they do. We did not finish it all since it was getting late, it was bedtime …
Here are some moments from last night.
