I braved the heat yesterday afternoon to take a few quick photographs of the Crocosmia Lucifer in the front yard. Their intense red pushed the camera to its limits and required a little tweaking in Lightroom, pulling the red luminosity down a little retained the colors I saw. There is also a bunch in the backyard, I may photograph them today or tomorrow. We’ll see. In the meantime, enjoy the lovely flowers, a small visitor, and a solo yucca blossom from my brief outing.
In the Backyard Crocosmia Catches the Eye
Early in the evening, the weather was bearable and I ventured to the backyard to sample some more flowers. Crocosmia Lucifer photographs seem to dominate, but I decided to include a more common, even abundant Road Lily. Its delicate color and texture stand out against the bluish early evening light. Enjoy!
The shallow focus and soft focus of the detail are intentional.

My favorite is #7 as I love the contrast from sharpness to blur. Been wanting to plant some flowers that attract hummingbirds…..after reading Sal’s comment I will show these to my wife.
