The Christmas day came after Mina went to bed at a timely hour so that Santa could arrive and bring her gifts. The next morning she slept a little longer than expected, but she was ready to open the packages according to a protocol she had. First, get the things hanging and standing on and around the fireplace left by Santa. Open them one at a time, and realize that he knew exactly what she wanted, what delight! Then get a package for someone else to open, say for Nana or Dede, and watch them as they marvel at her creations for them, and what she might have found for them like the glass candle holder man and a woman.
Then open a few more packages, this time from Mama or Nana and Dede, and bring Mama’s gift bag, which she picked out the evening before. Mina watched her mother open that package with great attention and enjoyment that she liked her gifts. Afterward, the girls opened the packages that came from Turkey. Auntie Binnaz and uncle Ergun sent for them in two installments. They decided how to split them between the two of them. We enjoyed our breakfast and watched TV in the afternoon. Later on, Jude stopped by and stayed for dinner, it was a good day indeed.
