Mina slept longer than I expected this morning. She had left a large gingerbread cookie and a glass of milk for Santa, half of the cookie was gone and the milk glass was empty. Sure proof that Santa had visited and filled Mina’s stocking hanging above the fireplace. As she slowly woke up, she was delighted to see the pink dragon she had asked from Santa. After that, she tackled the contents of the stocking and the small packages left right in front of the fireplace. The rest of the gifts would have to wait a while. We had a late breakfast with waffles and other goodies Elif had prepared.
As the time came to open the gifts under the tree, Mina wanted her mama to open the gifts she had made for her. A very nice card Mina made introduced a lovely tree ornament they had made at her school with a small picture of herself. Then the time came for mama, Nana and Dede to open similarly wrapped packages. We were greeted with a nice handprint of Mina with her name and date imprinted on it as well. Mina made special gifts for Nana and me, we opened our carefully wrapped and nicely labeled with handwriting packages. Two hand-made dolls depicting Nana and Dede emerged. Mina brought one of her to complete the picture. Mina played Santa and handed packages to everyone to open.
I cannot claim ownership or authorship to any of the photographs. But they capture the spirit of the Christmas 2012.
