I have been following the prices of Canon EOS-M to see if it would go down to an irresistible point for me. So far, the body with an 18-55mm zoom lens has been down to $349 at B&H and Amazon. The strange pricing on the same camera with a 22mm lens is very confusing to say the least. As of now, July 20, 2011 12:07 PM, B&H has the following prices:
So, to get a $200 price break you need to add the flash to the purchase, hmmmm! In the last week, the body with the 22mm lens has wildly changed in price and at one point B&H even listed the item as “discontinued”. The volatility of the price is probably indicative of eminent dropping of the camera from the Canon line up. It sure is darn attractive, especially if one considers the price of the 18-55 mm zoom lens is $249, so the body is costing an extra $100. With the 22mm lens, I have seen the price as low as $299 which brings the added cost of the camera even lower. If you are considering a spare body and a small camera to carry around, keep watching the prices of the Canon EOS-M. It may go even lower than its current level which is still very attractive.
Let’s wait and see!
