Farewell Teaching
Today was the day to say farewell to my last capstone class, and it was a wonderful time. Most of the members of the class were able to make it to Jamra Lounge, a new Lebanese restaurant/bar near Providence College.
Good food, good conversation, all the hope and expectation of a great future, what more could I have asked for? Yet, you completely surprised me with a parting gift, a helicopter ride in Rhode Island. Some had seen my Great Salt Lake folios and heard about my chopper ride over the lake and thought that I would enjoy a similar ride around Rhode Island to take photographs. It was an incredibly thoughtful gesture on the part of all of you, thank you all very much for that gift. Check back periodically, you may see some aerial photographs from RI.
Thank You For Your Parting Gift
But you have given me a better gift this semester. The gift of your rising to the challenge and creating an extraordinary event. It has already inspired the students and faculty for next year and maybe years to come. That was the best gift I could have asked for as I taught the course for the last time.
Remember, learning is the path to excellence; thinking, its tool; creativity, its manifestation.
I will surely miss you, keep in touch. Farewell, do well, OR ELSE!!
