Faces & Places From Turkey II Exhibit, 2008

My last exhibit titled “Faces & Places from Turkey, II” was on display at the Mathewson Street United Methodist Church in Providence, RI, between July 4- July 30, 2008. (Directions) This was a continuation of the one with the same name that showed in 2007 but richer with many more photographs both in color and monochrome. I had a gallery talk on July 17, 2008 at 6:00 PM.

They are all available for sale, contact me if you are interested in purchasing any. There is also an exhibit catalog that includes all the photographs from this exhibit, printed on coated paper with hardbound cover for $50. It will make an excellent gift for someone special. (Very limited quantities)

Limited Edition Folio, 2007

In 2007, I have issued a folio of photographs, limited to a total of 12 copies. The photographs are selected from a series that I took on Kozak Plateau, thus the name of the folio. Kozak Plateau is in the Aegean region of Turkey and not far from the historic Mt. Ida. The main flora of this rugged terrain is a kind of pine known with various names, Pinus pinea, Umbrella Pine, or Stone Pine. The folio is a tribute to the tenacity of Stone Pine to grow in this rocky terrain, often growing in the cracks of large boulders.

Each folio contains 12 photographs printed on 8.5″ x 11″ archival quality heavy paper (300 gsm) using archival inks. I print every sheet, one at a time, then sign the Certificate of Authenticity and the cover sheet of the folio. Each folio is priced at an extremely affordable and attractive price of $150. Out of the total number of 12 copies, numbers 1-7 have been sold. Let me know if you would like to own one of these very limited number of folios that contain photographs with etching-like quality, a joy to hold and view at an intimate distance.

Contact me if you like to purchase a copy of this folio. Seven copies of the 12 have been sold and I produce them on demand. It takes about one week for the entire folio to be ready.

Faces & Places From Turkey Exhibit, 2007

Lifespan invited me to show my photographs in their exhibit space between two of the largest hospitals in Rhode Island. Due to the limited space, I was able to show only 18 photographs chosen to show three images from a given area. The exhibit was seen by thousands of people as they went from one building to the other. A representative of a gallery in Providence, who saw my photographs at the exhibit invited me to have a show in their space. I am now working towards another exhibit in 2008.

They are all available for sale, contact me if you are interested in purchasing any. There is also an exhibit catalog that includes all the photographs from this exhibit, printed on coated paper with hardbound cover for $50. It will make an excellent gift for someone special. (No longer available)

On Seeing Exhibit, 2004

I had a one-month exhibit in the Hunt-Cavanaugh Art Gallery of Providence College in 2004. The exhibit featured 36 of my photographs and was very well received. Many of the photographs I exhibited were sold, some in multiple copies. When you view the photographs of the exhibit, you will note those that sold with the numbers next to the titles. The exhibit statement said:

On Seeing

Photography brings the camera and the subject intimately close, the photographer becoming the tool and voyeur of this intimate relationship. What I see is not what the camera records. While the camera is a tool for me, I am a tool for the camera. The result of this symbiotic relationship is my photography.

I photograph my environment. By looking at these photographs, you will see what the camera recorded and what I saw. In that sense, photography becomes a mirror to my past. Through this, I want to tell you the stories of the faces and places I have seen.

All this will work based On Seeing, mine, the camera’s, and yours.
