We returned from Ayvalik to a huge city-wide celebration in Istanbul. The soccer season ended and Besiktas (bay-shick-tash) is the new champion. That meant we hit a huge traffic jam as we left the ferry in Istanbul. We disembarked the boat at 10:30 pm and the trip home, which would have normally been about 30 minutes at that time of the day, took us two full hours. Often we wondered if we would be stuck there for the night. But, having no other choice, we moved on. Finally, as we turned up the hill from Besiktas the Yildiz Bulevard was moving freely.
As I drove, I took short videos with my digital camera. This morning I added them into a single file, you will see the celebration from the heart of the action.
