It is either out or around the corner. I believe that if I am imagining something that is not directly in my field, someone in that field has a working prototype on the workbench. For the general population, inexpensiveness is more important then present capability of the technology. I think that it would be possible to implement HDR into the present, high-end cameras, but it is not done.I have heard about a liquid lens experimentation, which would work like our eye lens. Copying of the nature solutions may give us an interesting outcome. The possibility of retinal impulses transfers, or optic nerve "scanning" sounds like SF now but I think it will be achieved one day.
