For the general population, inexpensiveness is more important then present capability of the technology. I think that it would be possible to implement HDR into the present, high-end cameras, but it is not done.I have heard about a liquid lens experimentation, which would work like our eye lens. Copying of the nature solutions may give us an interesting outcome. The possibility of retinal impulses transfers, or optic nerve "scanning" sounds like SF now but I think it will be achieved one day. This kind of technology would create a lot of social problems which I am not sure how people would solve.

The future may come sooner than we expect.
