Hagia Sophia Collection

I had the extraordinary privilege to view the Great Church, Hagia Sophia, from the vantage point of its dome. Being so close to the original work and inside the dome was truly thrilling. As I touched the center of the dome, its ceiling, and the gold mosaics in and around the dome windows, I felt a tremendous sense of oneness with the people who laid them over 1500 years ago. I want to share with you my heightened emotional state when I was up in the dome, the sense of awe I felt emanating from the structure, the space, and the art that covers its walls.The photographs in this collection has been exhibited in Providence and Boston, a smaller number of photographs excluding the exterior shots and the Seraphim Angel by Erdinc Gokce were exhibited in Cleveland. There are two slideshows if you like to view them in addition to the individual photographs. The slideshows contain a larger number of images. ArtStor, the premier image collection for art and art history scholars, acquired 50 photographs from this series.
